A Successful Campaign of Water-Shed Management in Gujarat

Gujarat has brought in the Water-Shed Management Programme to bring about efforts to solve water problems across the state. Gujarat Government has brought such an initiative and has solved more than half of the issues in Gujarat related to water. People of Gujarat are supporting the cause very much in Gujarat.

Gujarat has brought about the campaigning that has brought about glories to many families and lives of the people with the implementation of the Integrated Water-Shed Management Programme in Gujarat. It has brought smiles to many remote areas of the state as well as in other states like Rajasthan. According to some sources, people of Gujarat has served themselves tremendously in actively taking part in activities with conserving water resources and reserves and have remained in touch with the development of the state of Gujarat all the time.

State Government of Gujarat, implemented small programmes relating to solve issues regarding to solve water crisis issues over the state in remote areas last year and it has received a huge response from the people of Gujarat to initiate it. People in Gujarat has taken up measures to reduce the intake of water as much as possible. Times of India, Ahmedabad has brought and supported many healthy programmes that has rectified the usage limited and it has been supported from Gujarat Government too.

According to the Water Supply Secretary of Gujarat, Shri H.K.Das, Gujarat has shown a tremendous outgrowth in terms of managing out people's problems relating to various other issues apart from water supply crisis. Gujarat have introduced lots of new features and many ways through which they can reach to the voice of people and can solve such problems. The implementation of SWAGAT Programme in Gujarat is an example to bring forward the matter of people's importance.

Gujarat has around 4033 villages where water crisis was reported, but with the help of people's support in Gujarat, the state brought to the existence of Water-Shed Management Programme in Gujarat which has eliminated the crisis to more than half. Previously the region of Saurashtra used to be under the threat of water availability problems, but now more than half of the part of Saurashtra are relieved from the water supply of Narmada River through pipelines.

Initiatives taken up by Gujarat state to solve Water Problems

Some of the highlights what the state has done in order to check the rate of daily water problems are as follows:

1. Gujarat has built around 1.37 lakh check dams to instruct the flow of water through the entire state smoothly.

2. Around two lakh lake ponds have been build for such a motive to support water supply in every nook and corner of Gujarat state.

3. Gujarat has constructed around 1.1 lakh Bori-Bandhs across the state to resolve water problems among villages and cities.

4. Gujarat has deepened around 19,103 village ponds for better outgrowth supply of water and for better distribution of water in every cities and taluks of Gujarat.

5. Initiation of Aquifer Management, Gujarat is now in progress which will dissolve many issues among the drier parts of Gujarat during the summers.

This Water-Shed Management of Gujarat has been well encouraged and supported from the state of Rajasthan too. Chief Minister of Gujarat- Mr.Narendra Modi, has promised to upbring more healthy programmes for the betterment of Water Management in Gujarat. He has also initiated to take over many water help issues from other states without any negotiation from Gujarat Government. Gujarat has always shown its path of progress and it will delight our country India with huge positiveness.
