Satellite for our help

This resource gives you information about the importance of satellite.

-A satellite is an artificial or man made device projected into the orbit around the earth and the moon. It is placed into the orbit by means of powerful rockets. Satellite are intended for research in places above the earth's atmosphere, as communication links and for direct study of phenomena in space. They relay back to the earth telephone message or radio and TV signals received from the other parts of the earth.
-The history of satellite is not very old . APPLE was the first experimental communication satellite which had some 400 telephone channels. APPLE worked satisfactory till it was switched off in September, 1983. The INSAT-1A was launched in 1982. It had exclusive use for TV relay. It had an early end after about five months. The INSAT-B was launched into space in 1983. It became the first operational satellite with multiple services. It brought about a revolution in India's mass communication system, meteorology and telecommunication network. INSAT-1C is also still in space helping telecommunication and rendering many more useful services. A great advantages of these INSAT satellites is that the Indian telephone system gets better facilities for intercity communication.
-EDUSAT is the first Indian satellite built exclusively for serving the educational sector. It is mainly intended to meet the demand for an interactive satellite based distance education system for the country. It strongly reflects India's commitment to use space technology for the national development.
-Satellite are meant for finding out the secret of space above the earth's atmosphere. While moving around the earth they keep on taking photographs of earth. They help to be aware of major changes in the earth atmosphere and on the surfaces of the earth, and sometime they save us from natural calamities like floods, cyclones etc. They relay back to the earth telephone messages or radio and TV signals received from all over the world.
-Satellite communication is also useful in medical science. An open heart surgery being performed in London hospital can be viewed vividly by people in Ahmadabad on their TV screens, with living in different parts of INDIA. This communication will bring more information and thus improve the quality of people's life. Satellite communication thus promises to be powerful and significant means of socioeconomic and educational development.
